The only private pool in La Plagne
At Chalet du Bois Melay, the pool is indoors, heated to 30 °C and entirely yours: six metres by three, with the infrared sauna and gym alongside, and windows looking out over the forest and the mountains. It is open whenever you want it: before the first lift, after the last run, or late in the evening once the children are asleep.
Space for fifteen, privacy for everyone
The chalet was renovated from 2021 to 2023 around one idea: a large group should be able to spend the week together without living on top of one another. All seven bedrooms have their own bathroom. They can be set up with double beds or singles, up to fifteen single beds in total, so the chalet works as well for three families as for a group of friends. The two master suites can each take a travel cot.
Downstairs, wood, stone and large windows onto the forest set the tone for the living spaces: a lounge with a fireplace, a dining table for fifteen, an open kitchen and a separate cinema room for the evenings.
Walk to the slopes, ski back to the chalet
The chalet is not ski-in/ski-out, but you never need a car to ski. The nearest lifts are 400 metres away: an easy, almost flat five-to-ten-minute walk along a quiet forest path. At the end of the day you can ski back to within 200 metres of the door. And if you would rather not walk, the free resort shuttle stops a few metres from the chalet.
Most guests end up enjoying the walk through the forest, first thing in the morning, before the first lift.
From La Plagne, the Vanoise Express links directly to Les Arcs, opening up the 425 km of pistes of Paradiski.
Catered or self-catered: your choice
The chalet is rented without catering, and the kitchen is fully equipped for groups who like to cook. If you would rather not, a private chef can take over for the week, or just for a few evenings on request. Tell us what suits your group and we will build it around you.
Everything arranged before you arrive
Airport transfers, ski hire delivered to the chalet, private instructors and ski school, childcare, grocery delivery and massages can all be organised in advance through our partner concierge, Pointe de Sel. Elise, our founder and chalet manager, is your single point of contact from your first enquiry until the day you leave.

- By train: the nearest station is Aime-La Plagne, in the valley below the resort

Why we change over on Sundays
Saturday is the traditional changeover day for many ski chalets in the Alps. Ours changes over on a Sunday in winter. The roads up to the resort are generally quieter, and at the end of your week you can spend a Saturday on the slopes while many other guests are travelling.

Frequently asked questions
Is the price per person or for the whole chalet?
For the whole chalet. Weekly rates run from €10,000 to €32,000 depending on the week, for up to 15 guests: around €670 to €2,130 per person when the chalet is full. Catering is not included.
Is the chalet catered?
It is rented on a self-catered basis, with a fully equipped kitchen. A private chef can be arranged for the whole week or, on request, for individual meals.
Is it ski-in/ski-out?
No, but the slopes are within easy walking distance. The lifts are 400 metres away, an almost flat walk of five to ten minutes through the forest, and you can ski back to within 200 metres of the chalet. No car is needed during your stay, and a free shuttle also stops a few metres away.
Which airport is closest?
Chambéry, around 1 hour 30 minutes by car. Geneva and Lyon are both around 2 hours 30 minutes. We can arrange private transfers from all three, or from Aime-La Plagne railway station.
Is the chalet suitable for young children?
Yes. The two master suites can each take a travel cot, baby equipment can be provided, and childcare and ski school can be booked before you arrive.
How do payment and cancellation work?
A 35% deposit confirms your booking, with the balance due 45 days before arrival, by bank transfer. The full cancellation terms are set out on our rates and availability page.
When should we book?
Christmas, New Year and the February half-term weeks are booked first, often many months ahead. If you are set on particular dates, it is worth getting in touch early.

Chalet du Bois Melay is a little haven of peace. Nestled among the fir trees, each room offers a breathtaking view that is simply dreamy! The design and cleanliness of the chalet are top-notch. The amenities are comprehensive: each room is equipped with an ensuite toilet/shower, and there is also a pool, sauna, and an incredibly cozy dining room. The icing on the cake is the warm welcome from the hosts. I can only recommend a stay at the chalet. And for skiing, a little warm-up is offered, and it's definitely worth it!
I have stayed several times in this beautiful chalet. Great location, just 5 minutes on foot from the slopes. Elise is attentive to all your questions. The chalet is very luxurious, and my children loved the pool and the cinema room 😉. I highly recommend it!

Ideal chalet for a group of friends (14 people) who love skiing and sharing memorable moments together. The kitchen is well equipped for those who enjoy cooking, and after skiing you can relax in the pool or the cinema room! The chalet manager, Elise, is always attentive and available when needed, yet very discreet when not.
